What's the difference between SIP Trunking and Hosted PBX?

SIP Trunking provides voice connectivity to your existing phone system (like FreePBX, 3CX, or Asterisk). You manage the PBX, we provide the phone lines.

Hosted PBX is a complete cloud phone system. We host everything - you just plug in phones or use softphones. Ideal if you don't want to manage your own PBX.

Where is IPComms located?

IPComms is headquartered in Kennesaw, Georgia, USA. Our infrastructure is distributed across multiple data centers for redundancy and low latency.

Do you offer a free trial?

Yes! We offer a free trial so you can test our service quality before committing. Contact our sales team to get started with your trial.

What PBX systems are compatible?

IPComms SIP Trunking works with any standards-compliant SIP device or PBX, including:

How many concurrent calls can I make?

There's no hard limit on concurrent calls. Your plan determines how many channels you have, and you can scale up at any time. For high-volume call centers, we offer unlimited channel plans.

Do you support TLS/SRTP encryption?

Yes! We fully support TLS for signaling encryption and SRTP for media encryption. Use port 5061 for TLS connections.

Hosted PBX

What phones work with Hosted PBX?

Any SIP-compatible phone works with our Hosted PBX. Popular options include:

Phone Numbers

Can I port my existing phone numbers?

Yes! We support number porting from most carriers. The process typically takes 7-10 business days for local numbers and 2-4 weeks for toll-free numbers. Your service continues uninterrupted during the port.

What types of numbers do you offer?
  • Local Numbers: Available in most US area codes
  • Toll-Free Numbers: 800, 888, 877, 866, 855, 844
  • Vanity Numbers: Custom toll-free numbers (e.g., 1-800-FLOWERS)
How much do phone numbers cost?

Local DIDs start at $2/month, toll-free numbers start at $3/month. Per-minute rates for calls vary by plan. Visit our pricing page for details.

Can I set up custom caller ID?

Yes! You can customize your outbound caller ID name (CNAM) through your customer portal. CNAM updates typically take 24-48 hours to propagate across carrier networks.

Billing

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) and ACH bank transfers. Payments are processed securely through Stripe.

Is there a contract or commitment?

No long-term contracts required. Our services are month-to-month. You can cancel with 30 days notice, and we'll help you port your numbers to another provider if needed.

How does usage billing work?

We use a prepaid balance model. You add credit to your account, and calls are deducted in real-time. You can set up auto-recharge to automatically add credit when your balance is low.

Can I get an invoice for my business?

Yes! Monthly invoices and receipts are automatically generated and available for download in your customer portal. You can also set up email notifications for billing events.

Technical Support

What is your uptime guarantee?

We guarantee 99.99% uptime for our voice services. Our infrastructure is distributed across multiple data centers with automatic failover. See our SLA for details.

What if I'm having call quality issues?

Common causes of call quality issues include:

  • Insufficient internet bandwidth
  • Network congestion or packet loss
  • Firewall or NAT configuration issues
  • Incorrect codec settings

Do you support E911 emergency calling?

Yes! E911 service is available for all phone numbers. You can register your physical address in the customer portal so emergency responders know your location when you dial 911.
