Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of IPComms telecommunications services. Violation of this policy may result in immediate service suspension or termination.

1. Prohibited Activities

You may not use IPComms services for:

Illegal Activities

  • Any activity that violates federal, state, or local laws
  • Fraud, identity theft, or deceptive practices
  • Threatening, harassing, or stalking others
  • Distribution of illegal content
  • Money laundering or terrorist financing

Spam and Unsolicited Communications

  • Unsolicited bulk voice calls (robocalls)
  • Unsolicited bulk SMS/MMS messages
  • Violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA)
  • Violations of the CAN-SPAM Act
  • Auto-dialing without proper consent

Network Abuse

  • Denial of service attacks (DoS/DDoS)
  • Toll fraud or service theft
  • Unauthorized access to systems or networks
  • Traffic pumping or artificial inflation schemes
  • Spoofing caller ID for fraudulent purposes
  • SIP scanning or brute force attacks

Content Violations

  • Child exploitation material
  • Obscene or indecent content in violation of law
  • Defamatory or libelous communications
  • Intellectual property infringement

2. Caller ID Requirements

You must comply with all FCC caller ID rules:

  • Caller ID must accurately identify you or your business
  • You may not spoof caller ID to defraud or cause harm
  • You must have authorization to use any displayed number
  • Caller ID name (CNAM) must be accurate and not misleading

3. STIR/SHAKEN Compliance

IPComms participates in the STIR/SHAKEN framework to combat illegal robocalls. Outbound calls are signed with attestation levels based on your verified identity and number authorization.

  • Full attestation (A): You are verified and authorized for the number
  • Partial attestation (B): You are verified but number origin unknown
  • Gateway attestation (C): Call originated from gateway

4. SMS/MMS Requirements

Business messaging must comply with:

  • TCPA consent requirements
  • CTIA messaging guidelines
  • Carrier-specific policies
  • 10DLC registration requirements
  • Opt-out mechanisms must be honored immediately

5. Fair Use

Services are intended for normal business telecommunications use. We reserve the right to limit or suspend service for:

  • Extremely high call volumes inconsistent with typical business use
  • Extended duration calls suggesting line monitoring
  • Usage patterns suggesting reselling without authorization
  • Calls to high-cost international destinations at unusual volumes

6. Security Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Securing your SIP credentials and not sharing them
  • Using strong passwords for all accounts and extensions
  • Implementing proper firewall rules for SIP traffic
  • Monitoring your account for unauthorized use
  • Reporting suspected security breaches immediately

7. E911 Compliance

You must:

  • Register accurate location information for all DIDs
  • Update location information when it changes
  • Comply with Kari's Law notification requirements
  • Comply with RAY BAUM's Act location requirements
  • Inform end users of E911 limitations

8. Enforcement

Violations may result in:

  • Warning and request to cease violation
  • Temporary service suspension
  • Immediate termination for severe violations
  • Reporting to law enforcement
  • Billing for damages or costs incurred

Immediate Termination

The following will result in immediate service termination without prior notice: illegal robocalls, toll fraud, threats of violence, child exploitation content, or any activity causing imminent harm.

10. Policy Updates

We may update this AUP at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email. Continued use of services after changes constitutes acceptance.
